How to make the most of your living space

Back to news

Renting a new property can be quite challenging if you possess a lot of items, particularly if you move from a larger space to a smaller space. We can all be guilty of holding onto items that we no longer use, or some we simply cannot part with. The problem is what to do with the items, or where to put them if you do not have the room?

Storage - You can purchase clever hidden storage racks that simply hang on the inside of cupboards, or boxes/storage bags that can be placed on top of wardrobes, or under beds. For larger items you could rent a storage locker. However, it is an unnecessary                       cost just to keep an item that you are no longer using.

Sell - There are several on-line sites where you can sell your unwanted items and make a little extra cash. There are also regular car boot sales around London and some stores who may purchase 2nd hand goods.

Donate - There are multiple charitable organisations that would welcome your unwanted items around London. Some charities are willing to collect large items or large donations of goods. It is worth calling a few charities to see what they will take and collect.

Recycle - Some items, such as electrical, cannot be resold due to Health & Safety requirements. However, there are recycling centres that take specific types of items. It is worth doing a little research on-line to find the right centre for your goods.

Upcycle - If you have an artistic flair or like to be crafty, this is a fun way to make something old feel new again. There are several sites with tips on how to renew your old goods. However, you will still need to find the space for your upcycled item!
